Dr. Tim Fitzsimons
I qualified in medicine at Manchester University in 1981, and have worked
as a full-time partner at Green Lane Medical Centre, Liverpool since 1986.
This centre was purpose rebuilt in 1991 and offers a high standard of
medical care and facilities. Both myself and the premises have been approved
for HSE diving and offshore medical examinations.

My Diving
As a diver, I'm active in our local BSAC club, Xavarian
Dive Club; an Advanced Diver and Open Water Instructor status. We
regularly dive all the usual haunts of the North West as well as around
the UK and abroad.
Safety
My interest in diving was whetted in 1996 and has been of great enjoyment
ever since. It became obvious that safety is a most
important aspect of diving and over the last seven years I've involved
myself in diving medicine. I'm approaching completion of the 'Diploma
of Underwater Medicine' and act as local medical referee.
Diving Medical Training
- Foundation Course - towards 'Diploma of Underwater Medicine'. This has
consisted of four weekly, intensive courses at the Dept. of Environmental
Medicine at the University of Aberdeen run by Dr. John Ross (EOM).
- UKSDMC Conferences - updating conference at Oxford, Whipps
Cross, Shrewsbury and Barcelona. Successful appointment as medical referee
for UK Sport Diving Medical Committee (UKSDMC)
- Assessment and approval - by the Health and Safety Executive
(HSE) for HSE dive medicals; subsequent
revalidation successful.
- UKOOA Conference, Aberdeen 2006 - acceptance for off-shore
medicals for United Kingdom Offshore Operators Association (UKOOA)
and the Norwegian sector (OLF).
